wrapping handbrake in leather? (and why it is important to use Questionmarks!)
I have been thinking about this for awhile- but replacing the entire handbrake just for an exact one that is wrapped in leather seems absurd. Why not just wrap the existing handbrake in leather- since it is really just a simple tube. (Wrapping the contours of the shifter **** is an entirely different story- I wouldnt even attempt that)
It could even be done with velco or just simple stitching or glue along the hidden underside of the brake as opposed to the top area where the Mazda leather handbreak is done.
ANy thoughts on this - or where to get the leather that matches the Titianum or red? Maybe a shop that did leather aftermarket seats for the 8 would have some scraps left over. Black, though should be easy to match.
Also I think it's really important to use question marks in the subject line when needed. If I didnt put a question mark, people may have assumed I had already done the leather wrap and this thread was a DIY. The ? lets you know someone is asking - rather than posting info, and it's much easier to skip that thread until someone replies, etc.

Wrapping sounds cool. That handbrake sticks up, sort of "look-at-me, you driver", and actually sits above its perch in that so often you almost have to tap the top down for fear of engagement. A leather wrap could be the ticket. I would bet that there are leather professionals who could do a huge number on the handle. That's the way I'd go. Let's face it - the handbrake is a prominant piece.
