I bought a pair of 55w yellow ion bulbs off of ebay for my VR 8. They looked pretty good until one burn out a month later, cheap bulbs! Before those, I had a pair of 80w hyper white bulbs which produce a white/bluish light. I didn't really like the color so I swapped them out with the yellow ones. When I did I noticed one bulb had a bulge in it, must be the heat.

If you swap bulbs make sure they are the same wattage at the stock bulbs. I like the yellow film idea, I think I might go that route next.

 

yea i went ahead and painted it....it looks great!!! it is exactly how i wanted it to look, uhh i'll try to post pics as soon as i can and thanks deedubb for reminding me about the clear coat!! i almost forgot, thanks for all the help guys!!!!

So, do JDM RX8s have yellow or white lights?

My Sera's factory fogs are yellow (plastic!) lenses; I personally think they are much better in real, British fog than normal lenses.

wha type of paint did you use to paint the lens? Was it an acrylic paint?

 

i really dnt know, it just says krylon stained glass, it says it contains hydrocarbon propellants, acetone, petroleum distillates if that answers it....?

 

well there are 2 different types of clear coats you can use, one of them (which i am not going to reccomend) could strip your coat of stained glass paint right off. I will find out tommorow for you.

Nice job! Turned out far better than I imagined. I got some of the yellow film I'm going to apply to my fogs later tonight.
