I wouldn't waste your time on the rears. Unless of course you really *must* spend $3k

Upgrades....

OK, I'll play....

4080 box in passenger side rear position, upgrade to real tweets in the tweet position, add a high tweeter to centre front position.

That's better! :D

This guy can help and has done these vehicles before and unlike most of the people on here... I don't even drive an RX8 (lifted F350 crewcab longbox that a RX8 can hide under) but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night...actually I own a car audio shop for the last 10 years. Need more info, e-mail me at forbidden@telus.net.

So are you trying to tell us that your system is 10x3k or 20x3k or 30x3k?
Hmm, 30k or 60k or 90k. I have not seen or heard of any installs that actually cost more than 20k except for a custom bus that has about 20+ playstations,40+ monitors,& about 50-100 speakers. That one cost over 100k & it's understandable for the size of the vehicle & the amount of equipment to be installed. Typically a top notch IASCA system install will cost around 20k. Back to the subject, 3k is sufficient to get good sound in your car. Get 2 sets of good component speakers, 1 subwoofer or 2 if you like, & 2amps (1- 2chanel amp & bridge it for the subs & 1-4 chanel amp for your components) That will be about 3k & will give a pretty good system.

set it up in the trunk like this with maybe two jl w3's jl tweets up front ... you can also put the tweets in your air vents if you want some extra places.

Cleansweep = bad idea in this car, here is what a former IASCA world champ about 3 hours from me says about it, I happen to agree for this cars application. A better choice is the Audio Control LC6 + bass remote if it is the non bose or the Audio Control 6XS if it is the Bose system.

"The cleansweep allows you to auto EQ the car so that the output is a full range non boost signal (cool feature), however you can no longer use the factory volume control or that feature is useless (not cool) you now have to use the supplied external volume **** which is not exactly going to look good in most new cars (not cool), it only has front and rear outputs that require front and rear inputs to work (not so cool) it doesn't allow for summing of channels (not cool), it has no sub out (not cool) but it has a AUX in (cool) The US retail is $499 which will probably be at least $599-$799 CDN retail.

The LC6 is $279 retail CDN (much better), it can take a factory tweeter, mid and sub input and sum them together (cool), it creates a SUB out with a optional sub control **** (cool), you can feed it front signal and have front and sub or you can feed it front and rear and get front, rear and sub (coo) It has a line driver built in (cool), has selectible grounding which is always a issue with OEM systems (cool)."

That's going to be over his 3k budjet. That cost 5k for all the fiberglass work & that's also mine :D , it's currently still at the freaking bodyshop to be painted. If the budjet is 3k, spend it on the eqiupment rather than spending it on aesthetics!

I agree with tru...for 3 grand you can get a kick *** setup...I went with a "basic" non flashy setup and I love it....I figured it would be better to spend the cash on the good stuff equipment wise and get it in there, and then little by little upgrade the aesthetics...

What type of setup are you looking for...SQ or SPL and another question is how much trunk are you willing to give up, you said serious bass what type of music do you listen to...Any brand preferences? Do you want everything matching or do you do you want the best piece for that particular area...

I totally agree. Besides, weight gains is a concern... i know i will gain though.

SQ is capital. However I would like to scare yocals with REAL bass. So SQ at first, but SPL Bass when needed

I listen to everything, system versatility needed. Mostly Metal/Punk to Techno/Hip Hop.

No brand preferences nor matching needed (why besides aesthetics?), although I was looking at a jl w7 13.5" driver with that matching 1000amp of theirs. Nice sound customizability.
I do not want to skimp on the sub setup, so i'm guessing half my trunk can go.

thanks for the interest, pertinent questions!

Just remember to put some Dynamat in the trunk. Man those things rattle hard.

I'm spending $2500 or so for now...but I won't have any subs just yet. I'm getting a DLS Iridium 8.3 component set and a Zapco Reference 750.2 amp. That's it for now...well plus standard stuff; wiring, distro. block, dynamat, oh and kicks formed into the factory ones for the 3" dome mid and tweet.

Oh...and supposedly the shop is having a film crew from Speed TV there tomorrow to film the install...I'm geeked :D.
