10" subwoofer in the passthrough
Here's a few pics of my JL Audio 10W6V2 sub enclosure in the passthrough that goes into the trunk in front of the strut tower bar. You can fit a 10" there, and it sounds almost twice as better as it did facing to the rear of the trunk. A seperate bass remote helps out also.

Here's a few more pics, I got it done @ Custom Sounds in Austin, TX, the north 183 loacation. Installer was Aaron, I may actually talk to them about putting a W7 in if the box has enough airspace.

I had been waiting do to this for a very long time, but many installers said while it was astehtically pleasing, it wasnt the best option audio wise... I am opting to go with the stealth boxes 4080 has created, how is the sound quality on your design?

As I said in my first post it has almost twice the bass response as when I had the sub facing the rear in the trunk. My installer is an authorized JL installer and he guaranteed it would sound better this way. I was sceptical because I always thought a sub was supposed to face the rear in the trunk, but I was wrong. He mentioned that it had some to do with the type of sub. Mainly the excursion of the sub.

(the trunk facing/trunk mounted idea only matters when you want a MONSTER sub that creates an earthquake when you drive down the street)

if he is happy with the sound we should be happy that he likes it, besides he gets the award for first with a 10incher (sub that is!) in the passthrough

xrider,
looks sweeet.
How much did the install cost?
I am getting a JL 10" installed at a place up here in VA called Tweeter.
Hopefully if it's not too bad I can have them do what you have.
Thanks

would they be able to sell this enclosure online? im in ohio so I cant jsut swing by the place. Im almost finished with my 2-10 sub box for the trunk, facing forward. Id rather have the pass through though. If I have to sell the 2 10's to get 2 8s then i would do that if someone sold a premade passthru box for it. I dont want to tear apart my own pass thru cover since this is a lease.

The install ran me a grand. I truly doubt they could ever sell this product without the car for fitment. The box was 2 piece, they put the rear in first, then the front.
