Anyone know of or have a single 12 box that will fit in our trunk? I have my 12 in the smallest availble ported box that will hold a 12 (to fit in my old mustang) and this thing still wont fit! Custom box? any other idea? links and pics would be much much appricaited!

 

well custom would obviously work but i just switched to 10s for the 8

Yeah, I have a 12" in a small square slot ported box. Only way i could get it in is to take out the big plastic piece just below the trunk opening on the rear wall of the trunk. Frees up like 2"

 

i actually did a sub setup a year or so ago but got rid of it coz i didnt like it and i wanted to free up trunk space

 

Did the same thing. Was going to get a custom made box to fit in the cubby hole and give me more trunk space (5 1/2 years ago), but never got around to.

 

I would recommend this guy. He can do a single 12" like he did in my ride. If you want the extra space.

Also tell him what kind of sub you have and he can check to see if how much airspace you need. You might have to do a box all the way across depending on the amount of required airspace needed for a sealed box.

^^^^ There you go. I'm sure he'll do a little custom work. Email him and see if he'll build you a vented box. It MUST go all the way across to even have close to enough air space for any 12". So it will look like the picture I posted, but the sub will be justified to the right or left side and the other side will have the vent.

That would be sweet.

i bought a box from these guys last fall (TC Customs). just now finishing up my custom trunk setup but this box fits amazing and can be custom painted to your color. if you want just a single side you could get them to custom make one. its more expensive then a carpeted mdf box but this fibreglass one looks awesome.

Well I have a JL 12w7 in my trunk...so yeah it can be done.

 

I'm sure it can be done, I mean I don't have 12's but I have 2 JL 10w3's in my trunk but we made the custom box for them. I'm sure they have a box out there for it that will fit the 8 trunk you just gotta spend the time looking for it. And if not I know there's people out there that can make em' for ya.

hey i bought a dual 12 inch subs box from circuit city as they clearaned everything out and it fits in the 8's trunk...barely i must say. took me baout an hour to jam it in there and then had to mount the subs inside the box after the box was in there but hell it fits lol. i think the box brand islike slammer or sumthin dont really remmeber

Just call Ryan at SRQ and tell him what sub you have and what you want. Ask him how much to build and send it to you. Tell him you saw it on the rx8club site and he'll take care of you.

 

Did you place an order for your sub? I was at his shop and he said he did one for a alpine type r but it did not fit?

 

nah wasnt me, ive been hard on cash. plus i dont go with alpines lol

 

Man, thats crazy. Someone order one and is claiming it doesn't fit right.

The guy who built it asked him to take a picture and send it to him.

The guy is claiming he doesn't have acess to a digital camera or cell phone with a camera.

I told him it sounds like buyer remorse. I mean who the hell can't find someone with a camera or cell phone camera.

Well hopefully you can get the funds lined up, I know I cant stand it when I got equipment laying around and not using it.

 

I'd tell him to mail it back and the builder will test fit it on an RX8 at the shop. If it fits, the buyer either loses the box or must pay to have it shipped back to him.

Is there a chance that the new 09's have a trunk that is ever so slightly different?

 

I talked to Ryan at SRQ again. The guy has never called back. So he must have been doing something wrong with placing it the trunk.

I suggested to Ryan the same thing. Have the customer send it back and he could test fit it in my 8.

I was just wondering if it was someone from this site.
