16 pin connector on Bose HU

I have seen it mentioned in several places that you will not be able to use the Sirius SAT tuner AND something like one of the PIE converters at the same time because there is only one of the 16 pin connectors on the HU. Is there a reason that a 'Y' adapter cannot be used (or made) or the people that make the PIEs as an example provide a 'pass thru' type connector? Although I know the bus is not the same, I have a Pioneer HU with a single IP-BUS connector on it, and all of the peripherals such as XM, CD-Changer, RCA Converter all have 'pass thru' ports on them so that you can run all of these peripherals at the same time. Is there any reason this could not be done with the Bose HU connector?
