2 questions - CD Player and adding a sub

I'm a proud new owner of an 8 and I'm having issues with my CD player. It seriously skips on any little bump. It's like those car CD players that came out wayyyy back in the day when they skipped after every little thing. Is this the norm or should I use my warranty on it?

Another question I have is I had a sub in my old car (Jetta) that I transfered over. The darn thing doesn't sound the same. I can't get the same "bump" as I had in the Jetta. I got it installed at Circuit City and they couldn't even figure the darn thing out. I'm going to take it back tomorrow to get an alarm installed anyways so I was trying to figure it out by then so I can tell them what to do. Would you guys know why it's not as powerful in the 8 as it was in my Jetta?

Concerning you sub. I don't really know why it would be as powerful from one to the other. The only thing I can think of would be the space your working with. I will tell you however. I spent alot of time and research trying to find the perfect sub and amp for my rx8. And I think I found it. And it was super cheap in my book. I found a 10 inch, 300 watt sub in a box and a 300 watt amp. Both made by punch. All for $300 including installation. And it sounds awesome. Even my family and friends can't believe the sound. And they really don't believe the price. It was a package deal from NW audio in Platte City Missouri. The whole thing is simply hooked up to the factory stereo. To be honest, it absolutely amazed me. So if you decide to go another route than what you already have. Try this. I hope this will help.

concerning your skipping problem. I sometimes have the same problem. But it only happens when I'm using a CD that I burned from home. And it seems to be the older CD's that I've burned or just simply dirty CD's. But hey..........if you think its internal. By all means.........take the sucker back and make them get a new one. I have also been told that a company is working on an adapter for the RX8 so we can ad a different head unit in the future. Wish they would hurry

I have the Bose system w/ 6 CD changer. Yesterday I drove for about 30 km on a dirt road with potholes everywhere (don't ask why lol)

It never skipped once. In fact in the year that I've owned my 8 I can't remember it ever skipping.

So I think you do have a problem...

I've driven my 8 on some seriously bumpy dirt roads ( FSKING dump trucks ) and it's never skipped.

Well as an update, they fixed the sub today. They screwed up something with it on installing and figured it out. I thought I needed some kind of adapter for the Bose system but I guess not. It sounds great. I got one of those audioban bass tube deals...fits perfect in the trunk and gives it that extra kick it needs.

I still have that CD problem but I was using a burned CD so I'll try a regular one and see what happens. Thanks guys!

Good luck. Almost all my CDs are burnt...with no skipping...

I had the same problem with CD skipping so I took my vechicle into dealer today and told them about the CD player problem. They called me back and told me that they ordered the new cd player for my RX8 and parts will be arrive in about 3-4 days. Everything will be under warranty service. I would suggest taking your RX8 into the dealer.
