4080 Box

Bought a 4080 box off Spazm and installed it yesterday. The sub (Rockford Fosgate P3) and amp (Rockford Fosgate P6001bd) sound pretty good together, and I ran the remote bass controller, and installed it near the coin holder. I have much more room in the trunk now, compared to my previouis set up. Here are the pics...

I like the way you have it set up, its clean and it looks like you kept most of the room in the trunk.... How was your previous setup?

I had two subs (with less power) taking up all the room from the "dip" back. So basically I could only use half the truck space.

Its a 10". I got mine used, however if you do a search for 4080, there is a person that sells them. Just gotta pm them. I think they are $300 new, plus a few more for the rotary grill.

I definitely like the setup. Just wondering, was the amp two big to have it bolted to the back of the back seat or is it not recommended. Just seems that it will add floor space and also not have to worry that any of the groceries might spill on the amp.

I have the 4080 box with my amp mounted on the seat back. The area isnt that big so a large amp wont fit there. However the Boston Acoustics amp that I have fits nicley. I dont have any pics though.

Awesome choice going with those 4080 boxes.

I have 2 digi cams at home not to mention the crappy ones on the cell phones. I have been lazy and not taken pictures since i did the install. I will take pictures when I get home if the weather isnt shitty. Im not done with the sub install though. I bought a stereo potentiometer so that I can control the level of the sub from my seat. Depending on the type of music I listen to the bass can be too much or too little. I still have to install that though. Ive had all the parts for about a month but have been lazy. Im waiting till the weather cools to do it so I dont have to sweat my *** off in the driveway for 2 hours.

I'm going with a custom made box in the same location as my current 8" but I'm going with a 10" Infinity Kappa Perfect Sub this time--can you get that 4080 grill without the box?

Here are some pics. Most of the Rockford Fosgate amps come with it. You can control the bass level from the drivers seat. I just had to wire it through the side, under the rear seat, and into the trunk where the amp is mounted. And I wanted to mount my amp on the rear of the seat back, but its too long. That was the cleanest place I could think to install it.

Thats why I am making my own "bass controler" This way I will be able to make it a **** in one of the blank spots next to the dsc button and light dimmer switch. Ill get the pics of my box today. I couldnt get them yesterday because I had to run out after work and it was dark by the time I got home. Sorry guys.

Here was my previous system with a 4080 box.

I have since changed my amp from the MTX 311D shown here to a two amp combo and surround set-up (I am waiting on some pics before I do the write-up.)

I still use the 4080 box but will be putting the MTX and its mounting board in the classifieds shortly.

Off topic: the amp looks nice. how did you make the amp board? what did you attach it with? any pics of work in progress or descriptions thereof?

I'm currently leaning towards mounting amps on the seatbacks, but that side mount doesn't look like it takes up a lot of space either.

The nice thing about the side mount is that you can get to the controls REALLY easy. When it comes to fine tuning a system, this is really important.

Now, the 311D is a pretty small amp but you could still get a medium size amp in that area. I went with the right side install to put as much of my system weight on the passenger side on the opposite end of the car versus the driver (the RX-8 unloaded typically rests lower on the driver side even before you get in the vehicle!)

I did have to relocate my air-pump kit, but that wasn't much of a problem.

The amp board is pretty simple. I don't have pictures of it but I can take some tonight if that helps.

Yeah, that makes sense (easier access to controls). Could you please take some pictures or just explain how you mounted the amp board? Did you have to drill holes to secure the board, or did you secure it to some existing mount points? How sturdy was it in there?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Here is what was sent to me by the guy that makes them:

The RX8 box is $299 shipped with carpet and a standard grill. The box with the rotary grill is $325 shipped. I have them for the driver and pass. side. The internal air space is .8 cuft.
