4inch Focals in the doors.

4inch Focals in the doors.
I placed Focal 100KP woofers on the upper side of the door's panel. Earlier those were on the top of the dashboard at the windshield's corner, but I wasn't satisfied with the sounding. That was too half-sided. Now it's ok, I'm almost in the middle of the stage, without any time delaying system(speaker). The tweeters are on the A pillar trim, faced at the other side sitting listener's head. The Focals are working from 280-300Hz, under those ferq. are Emphaser kicks, and a Kicker Solobaric ( 20-80Hz).

Maybe it's tacky when the doors are open, but at closed doors, it's seem's like the part of the door's panel. Way better in "live" than on the pictures. The Kicker is in the trunk, those are Emphasers in the doors.

Take the door panel apart, remove the speaker grill and use some fibreglass reinforced bondo to blend the speaker mount into the door panel. Then reupholster the door skin, install the grill into the mount and it is going to look a million times better. Aside from that suggestion, do what you like as it is your car, however, I would think that a car as nice as a RX8 deserves a little more love than you have shown it.

Good idea. Here's how I put 4 inch Focals in the doors:
They are quasi-horn loaded too. There is actually a 8w0 in the door as well in a two chamber sealed fiberglass box.
(I shot it with flash so you could see the JL logo. Normally that is invisible)
I'm really trying to get full write done on this one of these days.

Thanks Forbidden! Maybe that's the next step, I was not brave enough yet to make a whole new leathering on the upper side of the doors panel.
Mr Wigggles: I think you made a hole on the door's iron panel to get enough space for the Focal, did you? That's looks beautiful, but i wanted to avoid drilling the iron parts.

If you are worried about time and effort, then that is a different thing all together. It is a lot of work for only a cosmetic change.
However, given the price of Focals, extra install costs aren't that big of a deal.
For your install, it would look a ton better if you could find just a quarter inch more depth to make the face flush with the door panel.
BTW, they do sound great don't they?

Thanks MrWigggles! Yes, the sounding is more than great! I'm worrying about the door's stuctural rigidity ( and the louder noises) if I cut a metalplace from that, but it would be good to get an 1/4 inch, because your install is a much more beautiful than mine.
