6 disc changer installation
When I bought my RX8 last August I was quoted $900 for the CD changer. I have since found out I can have one installed at another dealer for about $750. Just to buy the unit is $550.
Has anyone installed one? Does it add on to the existing unit, or does it replace the entire radio assy? I have the Bose unit (no highs, no lows, it must be Bose).
I really want a changer, but even $500 is just too much. I bought one for my VW from the dealer for $200 and popped it in myself. Are there any other options? I've done a search, but have come up with nothing else. I don't really like the FM modulator units, so that is not an option for me.

Installation is an easy DIY project. Search the Audio and Electronics forum for "MP3 install" and you'll find several threads with step-by-step instructions, photos, hints, etc. The MP3, 6-disk and single-disk units are physically identical and installation is exactly the same.
