7" VGA LCD Touchscreen Installed
Just installed my touchscreen 7" vga lcd. I am almost finished with my carputer setup, just have to hardwire the computer with the pw70a + ITPS. Once I complete that I will post more pics with the computer installed. BTW, carputer specs: Via EPIA M 6000 600mhz, 250gb, 512MB, SONY DRU120A DVD+R/RW. I got a lotta wiring to do especially with the USB hub I'll place somwhere in the console. Still figuring things out though as I go. More pics to come!

Just to be a devil's advocate, without the traditional 1-DIN motorized units that slide away, won't that be awfully obvious to car thieves?
Or is that "stand" for the monitor designed so that you can just hide the screen away in your glovebox?
Just wonderin... VERY cool, either way.

I did some hardwiring earlier today and got the system to power up when the key was turned. Still have alot of tweaking with it. I will post pics tomorrow showing how I ran the wiring. The computer will reside in the trunk and will be strapped in to where the flat tire kit normally goes. I have to do something about cooling it so I have some fans on order.
JGoldstein: MP3Car.com has alot of information on other people's setup as well as a store to purchase the parts needed to build your own.
8inVegas: screen ($230), computer ($200), Power Supply ($90), and I already had the HD. So far I am very satisfied with the unit but with one exception...sound quality. I had to purchase a Stereo FM Modulator and I'm having bad distortion with the bass level. I have to turn the volume down on the computer to about 26% to not get distortion. I'm looking for another way to tap in an AUX right now.
Huhsler: Unfortunately it's very obvious to anyone walking by the car, but I couldn't wait any longer to see if anyone was going to sell a DIN sized replacement (besides R-Magic). I will be getting a car alarm system hopefully real soon.

Canzoomer just sells the tray that the lcd fits in. The dash has to be cut for the tray to fit. You can get a touch screen for as cheap as $209-$400. Mine was $230 shipped off of eBay.

No keyboard or mouse. As soon as the computer starts up it jumps straight to the mediacar program. It took me only a week to finish. It took 1 day for the tray install, 1 day for the hard drive prep and then 2 days for wiring and a day for soldering the AUX in. I just have to hide the wires in the trunk. I only have to hide 6 wires in the trunk (Power, Ground, ACC, USB, Line Out, & VGA). I should post the final pics next week.

I fixed the static problem with loo8com's AUX input DIY. I can read windows perfect since i'm running vga to the screen. This project was well worth it, I love having access to 28,000+ mp3's and 100 gb of movies and music videos. As far as cool, as in wow factor, it is awesome. Now as far as cool, as in cpu temp, it runs stable without any fans. Nav does not work yet, still need the hardware for it.
