what? the dvd ? yes the dvd ME-3 does have the t.v. tuner built in..

and yes the avelectronics nav t.v. switcher box does to...

so not sure what you are trying to say.

anyway as i said before you get what you pay for. why is 495 to much for a car that cost at leaset 27,000 - 35,000 ???

if you want to go cheep then just get a portable dvd system.

OK, here are a few photos of my DVD installation using a Blaupunkt DVD-ME3 player and the Nav-Vision composite-to-RGBs converter.

Here's the Nav screen showing a DVD

This is where I mounted the Nav-Vision box. You can just see the bottom of it at the upper right of the picture.

The rear of the nav unit with the wiring exposed.

This shows the nav unit having been moved forward with the wiring exposed. You need to move it forward to get to the wiring.

The DVD-ME3 has been mounted. The Nav unit is still moved forward. Note that there is a "passage" through which you can run the wires. The video cable is running through it in the photo.

You need to cut these four wires. The red wire is the red signal, the blue wire is the blue signal, the green wire is the green signal and the white wire is the sync signal.

Battery Positive, Accessory Positive, Battery Negative (aka 'ground' or 'earth') and Parking Brake ground are all available on the 16-pin connector. I'll post the details later.

The Nav-Vision box does the switching with a relay. When the Nav-Vision box is powered up, it will switch.
I have it wired so that there is power to it any time the ignition switch is ON or ACC. The I wired the ground (earth) side of the relay to the parking brake switch. To change to DVD I just pull the parking brake ONE click. That turns on the Parking brake warning light and the DVD system. Don't worry; the parking brake has to be pulled more than one click to have any effect at all on the brakes. I checked!

You might check to see if they have a PAL unit. They are a German company after all. I only looked on their US website. Check their European site.

That looks SWEET! and thats a great idea about the parking brake. does the rx-8 normally not let you use the nav with the parking brake up? or in reverse? i have heard some cars are like that... im pretty sure the mazda3 doesnt but im gonna go check when i drive my girlfrind to work..

CONGRATS agian on the install, its so nice to see exactly what wires i have to cut. im still waiting for my gex-p7000tv. the 6400 i dont think will work... and i think im going to put a computer in the car instead of the dvd-me3 because i want my mp3 library, and well the dvd player, and if they ever come out with software/hardware for the engine ill be able to do it onscreen.. just some ideas dont know how real they will be but maybe. my other idea is to put my xbox in the car since its modified its got everything i need.. 120gig hd p3 700mhz dvd player.. and you can run windows on it.. if you guys are interested in the modded xbox box idea check out www.xbox-scene.com i know an installer also in queens ny that will hook u up. sorry to get off topic.. and ill post my ir/osd box later tonight

did you connect the ground of Blackpunkt ME-3 to car hand-brake? To the light or to the lever?
Which wire is the ground?
So when you use the hand brake the ME-3 start and show you Tv or DVD-player.I think you can command it with a remote control?
And When the hand brave is dows the navigation sistem work?
Right?
But the audio of nav system continue working also with tv-tuner or dvd-video?
The Blaupunkt Me-3 take to the Bose Mazda loudspeakers also the audio of Tv or DVD?Or shall you do a particular connection?
Thanks

none.. the me3 is grounded to the isolated ground terminal on the oem dvd player. I bypassed the handbreak signal alltogther. that wire just need to be hooked to ground.

MY unit is hooked to the Avelectronics box. that is always on regardlesss of the hand break . The audio works through the fm recever. Sounds great

I can command all the devices with 2 diffrant remotes. the remote recivers are hidden behind the mp3 blank in your head unit.

Do you have also avelectonics unit?

I think that you connect directly the ME-3 to NAV display throught composite to RGB connector, and nothing morewas needed! I wrong :-(, I cannot but avelectronic. It's too ecpensive and it's ntsc signal.

you can convert any ntsc signal to pal.. thats easy.. yes you need some kind of a switch to switch from the dvd to the nav screen . blapunkt makes one as well.

Can I use IVSC-5501:it has 1 rgb in (sub-D 15 pin )and 1 rgb out(sub-D 15 pin)?
Then I could connect Tv tuner IVTV-01.
And eventually one dvd player or other sources, right?
What do you thinks about it? Can I switch from nav-system to blaupunkt converter?

yes that will work.. you only need the red, blue, green and sync wires.

as for pal. you just need to f ind a dvd player that is pal. the rest of the componets dont care.

its just the dvds you wil be watching over there that are in the Pal format. once the dvd has decoded it the image is just red, green, blue and sync.

you did find the Pal version of the ME-3 right.. you have to go to the UK blapunkt site.

you did see the isolated ground on the back of the oem dvd unit? that is where you have to connect any video shielded isolated grounds to get a steady non scrolling signal..

my first placement of the I/R reciver was in the middel of the Air vent just above the head unit. I velcroed it to the center plastic finns. That looked less obvious then your placement by the glove box. I almost put my video input switch there !.. then i got smart and put that in one of the knock out blanks on the left side
