adding a satellite radio

Look into the universal add on satellite radios. Crutchfield has a good selection of Sirius and XM. The 05 radio will cost $400 to add the the receiver and then it will only have the stock display.
One of the nice features of satellite is the expanded display capabilities. When you use the stock display you will be severly limited as to what is displayed. I have had Sirius for years in my car and had always wanted to go with a stock installed unit until I started looking at them. I really like some of the new universal units available. Most are around $100 to $150 and you have the flexibility to move them from car to car or into the house. The only challenge is finding a convenient place to mount them.
I admit that currently the only way to connect them is by through modulation and some people claim that this doesn't produce very good sound. But I am not an audiophile and never had a problem with mine. I am just happy if it can override the sound of my exhaust.
There is a thread here about adding aux in to the stock radio but I don't know the current status.
Whatever you do, don't even consider messing up your dash. It just isn't worth it.

actually there has been an aux mod and an aux in unit since the spring/early summer
the PIE adaptor
the custom aux in module has been 'in progress' since that time but so far is vaporwear...I believe Overload will get it done...I however lost my patients by the end of the summer and went with the PIE adapter
