FL Aftermarket Alarm Questions

Hello Everyone,

I received my VIPER 5701 about a week ago, I spent the entire week researching ways to install the alarm because the model comes with a REMOTE START and a lot of the shops here refuses to install it into a 6SPD MT. While doing my research I notice most of the wiring are not consistent, so I decided to compare the wires with at least 3-4 resources before I jot them down on my paper.

Some of these I've already soldered and tested. Most of them I have questions on, mostly if it's correct or if I needed to connect it or not.

The main purpose of this thread is not only to get my alarm install correctly, but to also share info for those who purchase the VIPER 5701 in the future,

NOTE: When you purchase the VIPER 5701 or any AFTERMARKET ALARM, they usually don't come with installation manual, however they do provide a quick guide and a users manual.

I found a manual here , this copy is for the older version of this model. From the looks of it, the only difference is the newer one consolidate some of the harnesses into one and the sensor is built into the main unit.

If you want to make sure, cross check the web manual with the quick guide that came with your alarm. The wire should still be in the same colors, but the harness might be different in the PDF.

Below is my connection list. I color coded them so you can follow.

You will see some of my notes and corrections I've made by researching the site or tested myself. I am not an electrician but I have soldered and DYI many electrical components in my career... As always, this thread is for reference only so PLEASE TEST TEST TEST, if you are not confident then DON'T DO IT!, not all cars are built the same especially if it's second hand like mind, you never know what the old owner did different.

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE, THIS IS FOR REFERENCE ONLY! USE AT OWN RISK!

TIP: I usually start with disassembling the panels, find where I wanna place my siren and my unit. Then I mount the siren first (get it out of the way). The best way to find a wire is to remove the old tapes, careful if you are using scissors to cut them, the wires are very small gauge (snipped one myself by accident). I didn't use crimps or shields, the entire process I use soldering and heat wraps and then I retape them.

ALSO, if there's any mistakes PLEASE PLEASE let me know, some of the stuff I can confirm it works ON MY CAR.

MY QUESTIONS ARE BOLD.

VIPER 5701 | HARNESS | VEHICLE | LOCATION

RED (+) | MAIN (H1) | YELLOW | IGNITION HARNESS
(12VDC CONSTANT)

RED/WHITE (-) | MAIN (H1) | YELLOW | RELEASE SWITCH NEXT TO DIMMER
(TRUNK RELEASE)

BLUE (-) | MAIN (H1) | BROWN | PASSENGERS KICK PANEL FOR SWITCH INSIDE GLOVE BOX
(TRUNK PIN/TRIG) is this right?

BROWN (+) | MAIN (H1) | TO SIREN | BLACK ON SIREN IS GROUND (DONE)
(SIREN)

WHITE/BROWN | MAIN (H1) | ??? | LIGHT SWITCH?
(PARK LIGHT ISO) Not sure where this goes, first attempt I connect it to LT. GREEN (see WHITE), fuse box out in the hood buzzed, not so good.

BLACK (-) | MAIN (H1) | CHASSIS (DONE)
(GROUND)

VIOLET (+) | MAIN (H1) | ??? | TO POSITIVE DOME OR DOOR LIGHT??
(DOOR TRIG. IN) Not sure where this guy goes... manual says positive of dome light, but I don't know the color or how to test it.

GREEN (-) | MAIN (H1) | BLACK/BLUE | DRIVERS KICK PANEL, BELOW WHITE CONNECTOR
(DOOR TRIG. IN)

BLACK/WHITE (-) | MAIN (H1) | GREEN/BLACK | DRIVERS KICK PANEL, BELOW WHITE CONNECTOR
(DOME LIGHT) NOTE: THERE'S TWO GREEN/BLACK, LOOK FOR ONE THAT GOES TOWARDS THE REAR

WHITE/BLUE (-) | MAIN (H1) | ??? | TURBO TIMER, NOT USED, DON'T HAVE TT
(REMOTE START/TT)

WHITE | MAIN (H1) | LIGHT GREEN | IGNITION AREA UNDER LIGHT SWITCH
(PARKING LIGHT OUT)
Haven't test this yet, is this right?

ORANGE (-) | MAIN (H1) | !!!!!!!?????
(GROUND WHEN ARMED) Not even sure what this does and where it goes

LT GREEN/BLACK (-) | AUX (H2) | GREEN/RED | DRIVERS KICK PAN
(FACT ALARM DISARM)
NOTE: TRY CHECKING CONNECTION TO DOOR, FOLLOW TO WHITE CONNECTOR… LOOK ABOVE CONNECTOR
IF STILL NOT FOUND CHECK FOR RED/BLUE
Couldn't find GREEN/RED anywhere, I read in another post that it's actually RED/BLUE, need to test this... is this right?

GREEN/WHITE (-) | AUX (H2) | SAME AS ABOVE | SAME AS ABOVE
CONNECT A 10 OHM RESISTOR TO THIS THEN CONNECT THE OTHER END WITH UP TOP.

BROWN/BLACK (-) | AUX (H2) | GREEN/ORANGE | STEERING COLUMN (SM WHITE CON)
(HORN) This wire was really hard to find, I looked around all the white connectors and found no GREEN/ORANGE, there is one GREEN/RED near a LARGE WHITE CONNECTOR... NEED TO TEST THAT... is this right?

BLACK/WHTIE (-) | AUX (H2) | GRAY | PARKING BRAKE SWITCH
(NEUTRAL SAFETY) GO DOWN TO TRANNY AND CHECK FOR GREY WIRES (THERE'S TWO, NEED TEST)
NEUTRAL WILL READ GROUND, PUT CAR "ON" DON'T START IT, IF WIRE READS THAT IS IT), THIS CAN GO TO GROUND BUT CAR MUST ALWAYS BE IN NEUTRAL OR ELSE ACCIDENTS!! FML
IS there an easier way?

VIOLET/WHITE | AUX (H2) | IGNITION COIL | NOT BLACK, B/W, WHITE/BLUE
(TACH) Read a lot about this... how EXACTLY do I do this? I need to get to the coils? where's the wires?.. think I need more details or a pictured tutorial on it, I think this one is the more difficult one

BROWN (+) | AUX (H2) | BLACK/BLUE | BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH
(BRAKE SHUT)

GREY (-) | AUX (H2) | ???????? | PIN SWITCH UNDER HOOD
(HOOD PIN) USE THE PIN FROM THE PACKAGE

DARK BLUE (-) | AUX (H2) | PINK/BLACK | IGNITION HARNESS (KEYSENSE)
(STATUS) IF WIRE NOT THERE, IT'S NOT NEEDED, FOUND IT, RIGHT SIDE OF THE KEY PORT (IGNITION)

PINK (+) | REMOTE (H3) | BLACK/YELLOW | IGNITION HARNESS
(IGNITION)

ORANGE (+) | REMOTE (H3) | BLUE/GREEN | IGNITION HARNESS
(ACCESSARY)
This one is weird, when I test this.. I turned my key to ACC, but it doesn't come on, when I switch to start I get (+)12V, is that correct???

PINK/WHITE (+) | REMOTE (H3) | WHITE/RED | IGNITION HARNESS
(IGNITION 2)
Similar to the ACC wire, this guy comes on when I am at ACC, but turns off when I am at START

VIOLET (+) | REMOTE (H3) | WHITE/BLUE | IGNITION HARNESS
(STARTER OUT) CUT THE START CABLE - THIS CABLE GOES TO THE STARTER
CHECK BY THE CLUTCH FOR A WHITE/BLUE

GREEN (+) | REMOTE (H3) | WHITE/BLUE | IGNITION HARNESS
(STARTER IN) CONNECT THIS TO THE CUT WIRE THAT GOES TO THE KEY/IGNITION

For Violet and Green, when I test it on START there's no signal, am I suppose to start the car in order to get signal?

From Orange to Green, my testings are not what it seems, so I didn't even try to patch into these until I get confirmation...

RED (+) | REMOTE (H3)
(IGNITION 30A)
There's a couple of wires like this one that says 30A fused or FLEX RELAY, am I suppose to connect any of these?

BLUE (-) | DOOR | LIGHT GREEN | DRIVERS KICK PAN
(UNLOCK)

GREEN (-) | DOOR | SAME | SAME
(LOCK) MIGHT NEED RESISTORS

Doors need confirmation

I WILL UPDATE THESE WHEN I GET CONFIRMATION.

Thanks ahead, again, I did search the forum and gathered all these. Some I have already installed and have questions on, others I just need to confirm before I try to install myself.

LAST QUESTION: If I don't care for REMOTE START (or not wish to do it now), I don't have to connect the REMOTE HARNESS do I? does it need anything from that wire for the REGULAR alarm to work? Thanks!

Chanse
I will reformat this post for others can use as a reference. Thanks.

Sorry, but I'm going to be very little help here. I've installed my share of alarms/remote starts, but never in an 8. On top of that, I've sold my 8, so I can't really check wire colors/locations for you. And that seems like mainly everything you're asking. The best I can do for you is making sure you've seen this link and remind you that some wires may go unused. And you do not need to connect the wires specifically for the remote start in order for the rest of the alarm to work. However as for all the wires on the "remote start harness" on your specific alarm, I don't know. Likely not.

Also no help, but I wanted to install an aftermarket system but then after looking at multiple diagrams and read up on all the bypass crap you would need for this car, i wanted to stab myself in the face with a dull knife.

Having advice is better than none. I did read the thread, was VERY useful since he include photos. I figure some of the wires don't need to be connected, but I just wanted to make sure.

As for the remote start, I am going to attempt to make it work, since it came with the alarm why not have that feature? If I fail I'll just stick to the good old just the ALARM feature.

Thanks for the reply

Yep that was the first resource I pulled, then I used the live from above to fine tune the connections.

Thanks!

wires for remote start, some u don't use, also don't forget our cars need a bypass module. Its not hard installing one just takes time finding the right wires, your DVOM is your friend, wiring diagrams also helps XD.
