Aftermarket Alarm Window Modules

I just got the Compustar alarm system installed in my RX-8 and it is shweet!

However, I wanted to drop a technical note that my installers discovered.

The Auto-Down driver's window is controlled by both the switch relay and an additional trigger in the driver's window motor. Traditional (i.e. DEI-made) window modules will not work with this motor.

To get remote-window up/down to work, the driver's window motor must be replaced with a stock passenger's window motor. Everything will work fine then. Bypassing the triggers in the driver's window motor did NOT work.

The up-side of this is that both windows will then be Auto-Up-Down through the latest DEI window module.

Just an fyi.

Thanks.

Actually, after re-reading my post, I don't think I was clear on that last part.

After the motor is swapped, both windows are Auto-Down using the switches INSIDE the car (just like the driver's side currently). So, that's the nice bonus.

Maybe I'm not reading things right but if you replaced the auto down motor (drivers side) with a non-auto down motor from the passenger side. How do they both become auto down.

Unless the auto down comes from the aftermarket windo controller at this point?

Thanks

That is exactly correct.

For instance, the newest DEI window module is installed between the switches and the motors.

They'll even take a 2 stage window switch input (like the driver's side rocker) to make it auto-down. Otherwise, it will automatically be set for auto-down.
