Unhappy aftermarket cd player question

I wanted to ask somebody who had recently swapped the stock out for aftermarket.

Above the head unit area is the HUD with radio station, temp, time, etc. What exactly does replacing the stock unit do to this information? does it still read "cd" when the source is no longer the stock radio? does that make sense?

bleh. i feel like such a clueless douche.

You need some modifications to do such a thing. Have a professional installer do the work.

No. The clock and A/C info is still the same, but the other info doesn't show I believe. (I'm not certain because I used an older dash kit to go aftermarket) BUT you can program it to say anything you want at startup.

Metra makes the kit. ~$160 online.
