Aftermarket HU - Harness + RCA output?
Hey guys - this may or may not be a dumb question. I'm picking up a new headunit (Pioneer AVIC-F90BT) in the next couple of days. I have the Bose system and right now I have a subwoofer amp tapped into the rear speakers for the sub level. When I put in the headunit, will I be able to use the harness adapter from the metra kit to send signal to the stock speakers, but then use the subwoofer RCA outs to send signal to the amp? Or will I have to keep the subwoofer amp tapped into the rear speakers still. I'm just not sure if I can use the stock harness and the RCA together.

Depends on the head unit, but i think most allow for speaker level output for the main 4 channels and then have a pre-amp out for a sub. I beleive the bose system requires an interface box for the metra kit, but I don't use one so I don't know much about them.

I have the Pioneer D3. Similar to yours, but older. Anyway, you can use the headunit's internal amp to send signal to the Bose amp AND use the headunit's RCA outputs to whatever/all aftermarket amps you have. Whether you choose to leave your current line output converter in place or you choose to run new RCAs, either way your choice.
I'd recommend running new RCAs from the headunit. This will allow many of the sub control functions on the F90BT to work.
