Alarm shock-sensor upgrade
Little back story....
I just recieved my VIN for my car and I was looking at it on the MazdaUsa website. I was looking in the options and noticed the alarm shock-sensor upgrade was included. Wait a minute... I didn't order that. Dealer must have added it in. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind that they did. After thinking about it for a bit I am kinda glad they did. A little extra security for only 60 dollars sounds like a decent deal to me.
Ok, now for my question....
I remember reading around the time the car came out about people having problems with the system being too sensitive. I never really paid attention much cause I didn't think I was getting the upgrade. I researched a bit and found that the fix is no big deal. What I am wondering is if this is still a common problem. Was there a vast majority of cars that had to tune thier sensors? Or was it just a select few? Are any newer cars having this problem or just older ones? Ha, older Rx-8s... three months, thats funny. Anyway, reply with what you know please.
On a side note....
The search function is really lacking. I don't have any idea how it could be fixed but doing a seach yeilds you almost as many results as just diving into the mix to find your answer.

The shock sensor just has a little potentiometer on it. I installed mine myself after buying it from the dealer for $42.. It was way too sensitive at first. I could kick the tire and have it go off..
I set it back so that it's much more reasonable.. No problems now.

Yep, same here - you've probably already read my old posts on the subject. Once in a blue moon, if someone SLAMS the passenger door hard on level ground; or moderately hard on an incline, then the lights will flicker. Other than that, I've had no issues - of course, no one has tried to smash my windows, either...
