Alarm w/ Remote Start & 2-way

I'm looking for suggestions on alarm systems, one with a remote start and 2-way device. I haven't had any experience with 2-way devices before and want to know more about them and how good they are.

I like the concept of the remote on my keychain be able to tell me whats going on.

Any recommendations on alarms w/ remote start and 2way for my AT rx-8

Look up these links. Sorry i dunno how to link. But im also looking for them as well. Ill simplfy what they said. get the Viper 791xv or Clifford Matrix Responder RSX 3.5 system, they say these are the most reliable and best. If you want distance, go for compustar.

Viper 791xv has no issues with the rx-8 and the people would know how to install it with all the goodies?

one thing i liked bout the audiovox one is it had the extra keychain to add more things to. Does the viper come with or make extra functions available for remote access control.

If you have it installed by a reputable, experienced installer, you'll be very happy with the 791xv. Don't go to a Best Buy or Circuit City, go to a shop with veteran technicians. The RX8 is really not a hard car to do, however. Any good tech should be able to handle your install with minimal difficulty.

Any good or bad about the Prestige alarm system w/ 2-way the installer shop said that it was a good system but a little cheaper priced.

zoom - Just an fyi, nearly all of the alarm systems mentioned here have "channel expanders" available to add additional channels to perform functions.

The Prestige has the most Aux channels, as far as I know.

Soon, running your remote will be like learning "Fatalities" from Mortal Kombat. lol.

Alright Im not looking around for cost, I dont wanna get jacked in pricing. One guy told me for the prestiege system in this thread w/ the key module thing it would be 480.00 and that included install. Seems kinda high to me for that but maybe im just wrong :P

Calling these places I am finding out that to have anything additional besides autostart you gotta buy a module. What is a decent price for modules, im getting told 150.00 for the car windows and 150 for the sunroof.

You can do a search on the forums on this topic. Long and short, Compustar's are the only ones that really have a good solution to the stick shift remote start. They have what's called a Reservation mode that you put your car into when you leave it. You can download the 2WSS owner's manual from http://www.compustar.org . This topic has been treated quite heavily.

Actually, the RX8 has a wire that indicates when the transmission is in neutral, so you can safely use just about any remote starter with this particular manual transmission.

Wow! I didn't know that. That would make things much easier, except that you'd have to train yourself not to leave your car in gear.

I used to live on a hill and always left my car in gear (usually reverse, because of the direction).

I decided to go with the Prestige alarm with remote start +2way pager. I also got the window roll up modules installed and sunroof close module. When I lock the car all of it rolls up all nice and smooth

The alarm distance they said works at 1/4 mile. Its pretty nice and small. Im still reading through the manual on all the little settings but Im happy thus far :D

I'm gonna most likely spring for the same one, but the next model up with the 800 number that you can call and have you're car started via satelite from anywhere in the US. This is highly effective for all of us that want to properly warm up our engines.
It kinda works like onstar, but all automated

Master rotary tech at Mazda dealer told me not to get a remote start to warm the engine before I drove it. He said in the instance that, for some reason, it attempts to crank it and kills it, or starts it and turns it off cold, you can flood.

Think you can give me details on which wire or where it is?

Most decent remote starts use an RPM sensor to detect engine start. If it doesn't crank in 7 seconds (default for Compustar) it stops and gives you a notification on your beeper. You can perform manual remediation at that point. Same for cold kill, you'd likely be the one to kill the engine. Once it starts, it's done. Just fyi.

I just had a Clifford Matrix Responder 3.5 installed in my AT RX8. I am very happy with it so far. It has remote strart and it works fine most of the time the only problem is they hooked it up to the voltage sensor instead of the RPM because they couldn't find it. So sometimes when the voltage is low the alarm is not sure if the car is running or not. We are trying to get this problem resolved today so if anyone could help me locate the RPM wire I would really appreciate it.

Actually, I'm not the one who found it, so I can't help you. Someone else on this forum had and posted about it, and I think there even were diagrams posted.
