All electrical systems cutting out

Hi all,

I'm experiencing a very strange problem with my '04 RX. Sometimes when turning the wheel to the extreme left, and traveling at very slow speed, (like when parking or turning around), all of the electrical systems will cut off for a fraction of a second. The headlights blink, radio turns off and back on, and all the dash warning lights come on like when you first start the car. The engine stays running however.

It's seems like there may be some short being triggered somewhere but I don't have a clue where to start looking on this. Anyone have any ideas or experienced this before? I tried searching for other threads on this but couldn't find any.

Thanks!

Very hard to diagnose electrical over teh interwebz.

Try the electrical connector at the power steering rack. This has a history of moisture / corrosion problems.

The steering gear takes a huge draw on the battery. If the connections are tight and the battery is the original..........you do the math.

The battery seems to be leaking acid around the terminals so I'm going to go ahead and change that first. Hopefully that's all it is.
