Aluminum Tone Switches

Yep - along side the Leather-e-brake sits my "Aluminum Tone Switches"

You know the drill by now - tell me something to get myself off my *** and out in the garage and get this installed. Man I'm I lazy lately... better check the gas furnace for a leak.... I feel sleepy...

I dunno, man... personally, I never really liked those switches. The plastic is just painted silver, I'd be afraid the paint could wear off. Besides, from the photos I have seen so far, it shows quite well that they are not metal. Or am I wrong and they actually look close to like real aluminum?

But either way, if you already have them , then you might as well put them on - doing that is much easier than the parking brake lever.

Man, it NFL game day - now I don't know when I'll start these projects. Tamas, your right. They are painted switches. They do look pretty good though. I'm going to try these today in between touchdowns... Pictures to follow hopefully.

Update - should get it done this weekend

OK, time flies - here they are installed. The pics are not that good, but the switches look better than I thought they would.

Yes, they light up and glow red just like the OEM ones. I'm going to try and get better pics today.

Money is only problematic if you let it be. Let's say you are shopping for antiques. If you find what you are looking for, it really does not matter what it costs, you buy it because it is what you want. Now I know that some of us are on tight budgets, and every dollar needs to be accounted for, but I am enjoying the fruits of my labor. I graduated from college in ’85, and I am having a blast today modifying my RX8.

The switches look really cool at night – they have the same red backlit as the OEM ones, but the red overhead lamp gives them a unique glow.

Don't feel bad.. I've got a dozen mods sitting waiting to be installed. But it's cold out, and nice and warm in here.

Your car does not have any more room for mods

I have two left to do this week. The Leather Hand Brake, and the Alarm Shock Sensor. Both have me intimidated a little.

Not a very good photo, but they do glow red like the OEM black switches.
