Amplifier mounting Question.
I have read so many threads on aftermarket installs but I have not found what I am looking for.
Where can you fit amps in the 8 that don't use the trunk floor area? Will under the seats work? I don't want to mount them in the trunk well area due to possible heat issues in Louisiana or block the pass through, the sub box will be blocking it already but can be removed when needed.
the side wall opposite the tire repair kit might work but there isn't alot of room for an amp or two..
Thanks all, Steven

What size amp are you trying to fit? I plan to install the mini Alpine 4 channel amp behind the stereo as I prefer to not put so much weight on the car (no subwoofer will be installed). If it's a bigger amp you are trying to fit; I can recommend this idea i have done on my previous cars. Either build or get a custom box that is shallow and has about a foot of space on each side of the subwoofer. You can mount the amps on each side of the sub so it looks clean and also helps with heat. I would stay away from a huge subwoofer and box setup as the rx8 truck doesn't have a whole lot of space for air to travel. I did see a great sub where someone custom fitted a box and sub to be flush with the grooved trunk area. They then had the amps on the left and right side of the box.

the back of the rear seats.
I actually cut some 1/2" thick PVC foam board and attached to the back of the seat as I was planning on mounting an amp there. I ultimately went a different direction but the PVC board came in handy later for mounting the compressor for my air cups
see pics: kind of hard to see since it's black on black but look at the right seat.
under the seats won't work.
mounted to the back of the seats they have good airflow and are out of the way even if there's a sub box nearby.
just a thought.

I think the rear of the seats works and looks great. I recognize those speakers - infinity Kappas! I bought them once upon a time and they are the only speakers I buy now. I like running Alpine for the amps and subwoofer (type R) as i have had a great experience with that setup. The Rx8 i have came with JBL GTO's in the rear and some older MB quartz which sound good but definitely require an amp to get the most sound out of them. Once i have the alpine mini amp installed - i will be able to decide if i want to go the subwoofer route.

I would like a 5 channel due to me gutting the Bose system and H/U for a Pioneer AVH-4700BS head and all new speakers with a single 12 or 2 10's in a box behind rear seats.
Most 5 channels I have found are 14-18 inches long so probably go with 4 channel and a sub amp for clearance.
I liked the under seat idea like I did in my RX-7s but isn't doable in an 8 I am told.
Thanks for the ideas, will look at the options and go from there.

Oh and to add some context, I listen to Rock, Heavy Metal, Progressive, Top 40, hate Rap and hip hop but like my late 80s 90s bass music. Don't need to rattle the screws loose, just a clean bass hit.

Thanks for the pic's, gives me ideas to work with. I like the amp behind the seat back. Might mount the 4 channel on the back and sub amp where the Bose Amp was.
That will allow quick connect to sub box for removal, less wires to deal with than if i put Amp on box.
Thew, what are the two devices you have in the trunk? Looks like a video tuner or controller, i see the yellow video feed cables.

That the muck up.
The rotors would goes on decoration panel, still have to instal the nitrous hence place the nitrous bottle.
There is RGB LED with bluetooth module sync and fans for cooling amp under fake shelf...
Drop to give some ideas.
