Unhappy Resolved: Ancillary power doesn't turn off with ignition

Hey guys,

I've had my RX-8 for just under 3 years. It's a 2006 model. As of like 5:45 this afternoon the center console and stereo won't turn off. Usually when I turn the car off, everything goes off, like normal. Now it doesn't. I'm an IT engineer, so my first thought was maybe something that senses ignition got corrupted, so I disconnected and reconnected the battery, hopefully resetting. It reset all my radio stations and stuff, but the console stays on even with the key out of the ignition. Also, the OBDII port continues to supply power to my little dashboard computer and the cigarette lighter in the ashtray supplies power to my GPS unit. I have an extra amp and subwoofer in the trunk, but those have been installed for over 2 years and I checked the wiring, everything looks good, and I even tried disconnecting the power source to the amp, just to make sure that wasn't the problem. Has anyone else had this happen before? I am not sure why it would do this, but for now, I am just disconnecting the battery for the night so it isn't drained when I wake up in the morning.

Thanks for any input you guys can give me!

Check your ACC Relay, the contacts within are probably stuck.

And your OBD-II port will always supply power.
I use my AccessPort everytime I drive and if I leave it plugged-in when I remove the key, it continues to have power (it just can't communicate to the PCM).

Thanks for the reply Jon. I just tried pulling my ACC relay out and swapping it with the horn relay. Even with the relay disconnected the console and radio stayed on. I also tried pulling the ignition relay, just to see if that would change anything, but that didn't work either.

I left it with my brother who works on electrical systems in our vehicles at work. He is going to look at it when he gets some time, but if I can maybe give him anymore info, it'd probably be helpful.

Thanks

Nevermind, looks like my brother figured it out. Looks like something was bridging the main power to the accessory power, I must not have disconnected the correct wire for the amp.
