Android phone integration with stock stereo

I have an LG Optimus G Pro, which is an Android phone. I also have the stock Bose stereo set-up on my 8 the version being 9.67. Despite what everyone says, its not too bad for my needs. My question is:

What good android phone integrations are there for the stock stereo?
I don't mind using only an Aux cable but would prefer using the stereo controls to.... say...change songs.

people will prob just recommend the adapter that goes into the back on the stock head unit. You can find them on eBay

Unfortunately most of those will only work for the 2006 and up models.

Has anyone tried this: Mazda 2002-2008 GROM USB Android interface adapter

with their android phone?

I fitted a relatively cheap aux interface ( Wikitech - see video on youtube) works fine and also has ability to connect my Samsung phone to it without loss of controls on the steering wheel. As the video points out it is a bit fiddly to get in behind the head unit with biggish hands but doable with patience ( or a relative with small hands ) Advantage is you do not need to remove anything other than the glove box to access.

Update: I ended up taking the P.I.E. Alpine Adapter from my dads 8, which only has a bad mbus-aux plug. So just ordered a new plug for the adapter from Alpine and should now be good to go.
