So I received my PIE parts today as well as my XM commander and went over to a local audio shop for the install. The guy up front was nice but the installers weren't particularly friendly to say the least. I am used to talking to installers to give them a little color on what I want and to learn from them...

Anyhow... hours later (i went out to a late lunch with my wife) I paid 180 bucks and took delivery of my 8.... my XM had the most horrible engine noise I have ever heard. When I reved it sounded like a whistle coming through my speakers! They were closing and blamed my PIE parts but offered to call PIE tomorrow. Whatever... no respectable installer I know would accept engine noise... period. I have no choice but to carry my battle over until the next day.

As I am leaving I realize the AC doesn't work! I reverse and catch the installer as he is getting in his car... "sorry man... I must have left the cable unplugged. Come back tomorrow and I'll fix it."

So now I drive home with a horrible whistle coming through the speakers and I am hot as hell. I switch back to normal CD mode. Then I switch back to the XM and the engine noise is gone!

Now I am optimistic...

Has anyone else had problems with engine noise with the PIE solution? Can anyone figure out why this very noticable engine noise just disappeared? Confused and hot...

 

Not me... my PIE+MP3 player combo is CD quality clear.
