Another Speaker Upgrade Opinion Thread
Hey all,
I want to upgrade the speakers in my 8. I read another post about replacing the stock speakers first, then adding an amp later, and maybe a sub after that. Money is definitly my biggest concern (married with a kid). Here is what I am considering, and questions on each:
1. Replace the 6x9's in the rear deck with Infinity Kappa's.
-Q: How can I bypass the crossover (or share the incomming line) so that the new Kappa gets an uncrossed signal? Since the Kappa is a two way speaker (it has a tweeter), I dont want the stock crossover cutting the highs going to the Kappa (or else the tweeter would not be able to tweet .
-Q: Should I leave the stock tweeters hooked up? If I replace the 6x9's with the Kappa's?
2. Replace the door's with Infinity Reference Series 5000cs (Mids in door, Tweeters in door, CrossOver in door). I had these in my MR2 and loved them.
-Q: I realize that the stock speaker in the door is a woofer and am worried that making the door a mid/tweeter, and having bass (the above 6x9's) in the back, that I am cutting out too much. Even though the woofers in the door are s#*t do you think I will be ok leaving the rear Kappa's to handle the lows and the doors to fill in?
3. Add an Amp and a Small Sub - No questions on this for now.
Thanks for your insight.
