Question Any info on I Cruze?

Does any one have any info on the Monster I Cruze. It should be coming out Dec 9th. Just wondering if it will work with the 8. Especially without upgrading the firmware. I'm running 5.5. I really don't like the idea of sending out the HU just so the Ice Link will work. Besides, I like the reputation of Monster cables.

the reputation of being severely overpriced?

The Icruze has been discussed before and all believe it won't be available for the RX-8 for a LONG LONG time and probably only firmware 9.55 or higher anyhow...really since you have the NAV you should buy the IPOD photo...use the nav screen as the display this way you have the all the info infront of you...even album art

It’s basically the same thing as the other adapters like the neo ion and icelink. Monster is just a major brand name and I think there product costs more. I ended up getting my adapter from www.mp3yourcar.com because it was cheap and they have a 30 day guarantee.

According to their documentation, it plugs into the CD changer port and acts like a changer. This would seem to be a problem for a stereo like that in the 8 unless you don't care to have ANY CD player...our changer replaces the standard single-disc unit. In fact, in their FAQ, they say it will not work with stereos that have an in-dash changer. I DEFINITELY wouldn't hold my breath for this thing.

well fortunately our HU has an additional external port for cd changers...that is independent from the indash changer

this is how the PIE is hooked up...just plug it into this external changer port (on the back of the HU and your good to go

OK, clearly I haven't been paying close enough attention. We have the capability to have the in-dash single (or multi-?) CD AND an external changer? Mazda doesn't sell one though...right?
