Any way around the clock issue?

I'd like to still keep my clock and temp ect ect.

I have an Alpine DVD howevere it's obviously going to take up the full space of the OEM setup. From what I read there is no way to keep the temp/clock ect ect if I pull the stock unit?

So I have to install my W7s,Focals and amps on the stock deck if I want to keep the clock? You have got to be kidding me?

Did I miss something?

corksport kit. you lose the clock, but temp still works. i assume you have the iva-w200 or the iva-w202, which has a clock built in anyway

Actually Metra is coming out with a kit that lets you keep everything for less than what it costs to buy the Kanatech from Corksport, probably be out within the next few months so I'd wait a little bit longer before you decide or spend any cash on a kit if I were you

oh it has? Show me where they promised a kit in the past?

(no, not where they were rumored to be working on one, but where they actually said "hey, we're releasing a kit". I've been bugging them for over 3 years and they never said in those 3 years they were, this past weekend I hung out with the R&D engineer who is working on the kit itself and he said it's coming soon. I volunteered my car as a test mule but I don't know if they'll go for it lol)

Stop spreading these LIES!!! LIES I TELL YOU!!!!

I'll be damned if I finally cough up the 500 bucks for this damn corksport kit and now Metra, A COMPANY I HAPPEN TO GET LARGE DISCOUNTS FROM, comes out with a better one!

Either way, I'm buying it. Even if I don't put it in my own car, I'd sell it to someone on here. For example, a harness that costs you $19.99... probably costs me $3.61.

Canary... Could you contact Metra and find out approximately how long till the kit is released? If it is in the next month or two I would probably buy it, if not then I will just go with Corksport. Thanks.

I have the "IVA-W205" from 2007.
As long a the temp still works I would be happy.
Yes, obviously the DVD player has a clock on it which is fine.
I saw the one kit that keeps the AC/Heat controls in the same place however I only saw a single DIN and not a double DIN...being it's a DVD player I need 2 slots. I'm not sure (checking today) if it will fit with the AC/Heat controls. God knows i'm going to want AC in FL.

The 2 W7's and W6 should fit in the trunk with a fiber glass box they are making for me with enough room to still fit my golf bag in.

Rip out the horrid BOSE speakers and pop in my Focals and I should be in biss.

The stuff is coming out of my VR4 which is now a dedicated track car.
I'm curious to see what the stuff sounds like in the 8 as it's a small cabin area and i'll be running an extra PDX amp to the subs as opposed to the 1 I was running before.

Does anyone know for sure if a double din will fit and still clear the AC/Heat controls. That corkscrew whatever kit I only saw in a single?

Thanks as always for the great input and I apologize if i'm reposting a topic.
I spend a good hour and a half a day trying to catch up on all the posts.

My Soundstream clears everything just fine, and I have clock and temp as well, I've been playing phone tag with 3 of the reps I know personally, as soon as I get a date I'll definitely post it, I've been waiting for an alternative forever to the kanatech/corksport monopoly (and finally ended up just doing w/o it anyway and doing something different) so I can't wait to see something else out there more readily availabe that you can buy anywhere as ooposed to being forced to having to go through one source etc.

(I have nothing against corksport as a company or anything by the way, I just despise not having options, I mean, how many different exhausts/intakes are out there? This should be no different.)

I was so close to purchasing the corksport one, but with this new info i guess i wait a few months, to see if Metra comes out with one. Hope the tax rebate check comes soon too, maybe i can use that to pay for the kit.
