Cool Anyone running an Ipod in their 8?

Hi All.

I finally picked up an ipod, and my factory MP3 cd player doesn't read half the cd's I burn. So I'm going to try to return it since I bought my car like 4 months ago.

I'd like to get an ipod adapter. After doing some reading/searching it looks like there are a couple popular ones:

- Mazda's factory ipod adapter
- Audiolink

It looks like most people are using the audiolink adapter. Does anyone have pics of their Ipod setup? is there anything else available?

Ideally I'd like the setup to look as stock as possible. The thought of running visible wires around my car makes me cringe

Another question. People with the audiolink - or any other ipod adapter - if you've had it for 6 months or a year, do you still use it? Or does it become 'clunky' after a while ?

Thanks!

I've had the Audiolink since July of 2006 and I use it everyday. I have my Ipod sitting in the glovebox so its not visible.

I know the Audio link cable is long enough to run to the center console.

Hey there, I did get a aux. Module installed in my 8 last month. you could run I-POD, PSP, MP3 and heck even a walkman for the old school folks heh heh. The Module would most likely be a special order item. They have them specially made for the year of your car according to the shop I went to. BEST GUYS out of Concord/Clayton. Best bet would be calling an audio shop. good luck.

don't get the mazda oem ipod adapter.. locks you out COMPLETELY and you don't even have a text on the lcd display.. its just.. numbers.

get a DICE iPod unit if you want to do iPod only.. or get a car2pc aux in module for everything including iPods...

Do NOT get the Mazda OEM iPod adapter.. you will regret it.

yeah , the mazda ipod kit does have its drawbacks.. only thing that really gets on my nerves about it is the fact i can only switch between 6 playlists.. still , it is doing the job tiding me over til that metra dash kit comes out the end of this month.. then it's back to an alpine set up.. honestly , if you've got enough $$ wait for the dash kit release, and go for an aftermarket head unit w/ ipod integration..

I didn't read all the responses, so pardon if I repeat what's already been said.

I used the Audiolink for over a year. Every single day. Never would I even begin to think of it as "clunky". And there is a little knockout piece in the center console that the iPod cable can run through. I mean obviously SOMETHING will have to be visible. You have to connect/disconnect your iPod from somewhere. lol There's really nothing to take a picture of. 6 inches of cord coming through that small 1"x1" piece at the front of the center console armrest area. (slide armrest to the rear position. It's just forward of the forward cup holder. Think there's a little tab visible for ease of removal)
