Auto Down passenger window

Anyone know what would need to be replaced to make the driver's side passenger window switch behave like the driver's window switch?

Get a two-stage window switch and wire it up yourself. Go buy or download a workshop manual and good luck.

That's my question - is it the switch, something in the relay, or the motor? And could I just buy a new (switch, relay, motor) from Mazda for the driver's side, and replace the passenger's side with it?

It is in the switch. Just replace the passenger side switch with a drivers side switch.

I was just looking at this for a friend in his explorer all 4 window switches in that one are one PCB. so you would have to take apart the drivers door panel and look to see if it's 2 seperate switches or one unit.

If you give me a day, I'll go over to my car and peel back the rest of the door panel. It's sticking out since the accident.

I pulled the panel off. It's all one piece. I didn't see if it was one PCB, as it is covered in plastic on the back side as well, but it looked like one piece. Sorry.

That's what I meant. The driver's side passenger window button is what I want to replace.

Labop, since you already have the piece out, is there any way to take it apart without breaking it to see if anything can be done?

If I can do it non-destructively. I'll be selling the car to mazmart.

Yeah, I didn't mean for you to go smashing it to bits, lol. And if you have a digicam I'd be very appreciative of some pics.

if i remember correctly, you can get the dei part number 530T module for controlling power windows via an aftermarket alarm system, that will give you auto up and down for both drivers side and passenger side windows.

lol lurch. I came in here to say that I found a DEI module to do the windows!

I guess great minds do think alike :D

And you don't need the alarm components to make it work. The buttons will do auto up and auto down even without an alarm installed.

Anyways, they're going on Ebay for about $50. The wiring looks like a pain though. Has anyone installed one of these before? I know we have a couple alarm installers here. What's the difficulty level on installing this thing?

Also, our window motors are pretty quick. I like that, and I don't want to slow them down by not providing enough juice. I know the 530t has adjustments for motor strength, but will it handle our motors?

i actually work for a dei dealer doing sales and installs. the adjustments for motor strength are actually for the pinch control. what you are adjusting is the resistance across the motor (current flow) so that when the motor reaches the end of travel, the 530t will stop supplying current so as to not burn out the motor when it goes up or down, and also if someone gets their fingers, hands or arms stuck in the window, it will stop with out (hopefully) causing any injury. it is not overly complicated to wire up either.

i am planning on doing one in my 8, i just have to get in and get it done really, i already have the viper 791xv alarm/remote start.

Hey Lurch519!
I've purchased two window modules but can't seem to find a wiring schematic for the windows on our 8.
Can you help me?

Do the factory electrical diagrams have this info? I'd suppose so - do you have the shop manual?

If the two rear windows had power controls would you still even bother opening them?

2 modules? Why did you need 2? One will do both up and down on a pair of windows....

This looks excellent - but how does it work? I mean, does it roll up/down the windows all the way automatically with one tap of the switch but allows you to control the movement by holding the button (like it works in stock form)?

Thanks for the great write-up!

not quite, one tap, up or down, will send the window on its way. if you want to stop it part way down, just tap in the opposite direction.
