Autodim mirror- force on?

Is there a way to force the autodim mirror to always be dim? I find that because of the way I have it positioned it isn't always effective (I am tall).

I don't think there is a way unless you permanently shine a light onto the sensor. You might have to take the whole mirror off and trade it for a regular day/night mirror. I am sure someone would trade on this board.

I'd be more likely to mod it than swap it- I'm sure my Master's degree in electrical engineering is good for something. I was just wondering if there was an easter egg for it.

Arrow Tape it....

The principle is that when more light comes from behind, it dims, so it has two sensors.

Put two layers of black tape over the little sensor hole on the front of the mirror - it sees more light from behind, and dims forever.

If you have a MS in EE, it would be better to open it up and replace the forward facing CDS cell with a large resistor and the rear facing CDS with a small resistor. This will make it always think it sees the right light imbalance. Then you can turn it on and off with the button and when on it will always go to night mode.

The case comes apart pretty easy and it's a single sided PCB with all through-hole components.

But that's just my BSEE talking

No, but I've had the mirror apart once to fix a rattle and once you're in there it's pretty obvious for someone that knows a bit about electronics.
