Aux Line Input for Bose System

Aux Line Input for Bose System
I'm sure it's been asked before, but darn if I can find it...
I'd like to add an AUX line input to my 2006 RX-8 outfitted with the factory Bose sound system. This would allow me to hook up an MP3 player or portable XM radio and play it through the car speakers. I don't necessarily need to control anything (other than volume, tone, balance) from the radio. It would need to have a mini stereo or RCA jacks that I could hook to a cable connected to the headphone jack on the portable audio unit.
Is there adapter cable or product that can simply be plugged in somewhere, preferably at the amplifier at the rear above the tire, since this is the easiest to get to.
Any pointers would be appreciated. I'm somewhat handy with a soldering iron and taping into existing wiring if there isn't a commercially available plug-and-play solution.
Thanks all!
