Angry BAD Nav and BOSE

I picked up my ordered RX-8 in a hurry last week and discovered after I drove off the lot that my NAV system didn't work. I later noticed that my Front Left speakers did not work either.

So after letting Mazda take their time figuring it out, they are having to replace the DVD unit and the amp in the driver door.

The problem with the NAV was that nothing was displayed when it was open. During the day it seems that the display is not working, but at night you can tell that the display is on, but no data is being sent. When I ejected the NAV disc and loaded it back, the display showed "Application not loaded, insert the upgrade disc"

My dealer did not know what to do with the error and had to call Mazda "Tech Support". So the solution they have is to install a new DVD unit. The dealer is currently ordering the amp for the stereo and a DVD unit. I'll have to wait till next week for all of these bugs to be worked out.

Just wanted get the word out if anyone else had this problem.

The two are likely related, because the Nav audio prompts are played through the left speakers only. If the Nav has had a conniption, it's probably grabbed that audio channel and won't let go.

my NAV and BOSE have same problem

Went to pick up my RX-8 today at a far away dealership prior to the long drive home. (I got a much better deal for going to the next state.)

As I was leaving, noticed that the NAV system said:

Application not loaded.
Insert upgrade disk.

Whoever did the make ready at the dealership was certainly able to open the plastic DVD case and insert the DVD, but did not bother to check to make sure it worked (they've had the car ready for a week!) After an hour of their trying to get it to work and tech support being closed on Saturday, I drove it home anyway. (I flew there on a cheap airline ticket so how else do you get home.)

Also, for what it's worth -- they had one other RX-8 there on the lot with a NAV system, and it had exactly the same problem.

I don't think the software was loaded on the NAV system and the DVD provided just apparently has only data.

Also, the left front speakers don't work.

So...you're not alone. Same symptoms.

After contacting Mazda, the port, and a couple of dealers, it seemed apparent that the factory simply had not loaded the NAV software on my unit and the others I knew of with the same problem asking for the upgrade disc. Mazda had me pick a dealer. They insisted on keeping my car overnight and getting me another vehicle to drive. They claimed that they just fixed one with the same symptoms. Mazda sent them another NAV via overnight shipping. The same thing was done for my car and now the NAV system works and so do the remaining speakers.

Problem is now resolved.

Talking

Anybody else have problems with their parts and cars. What about the seatbelts for the back seat do they hang on the bar or not?

Re: BAD Nav and BOSE

Curious....

Is it any wonder why my car salesman called me up to warn me that the NAV and CD player system can break if exposed to heat, and that I should guard against this whenever possible.

Sort of strange.. but I said, yes thanks I will be careful.
