Best sound quality from XM radio???

I got a Delphi Skyfi2 XM radio for xmas / Vechile mounting kit and I'm currently using the internal FM modulator and I'm very disappointed with the sound quality! I don't know if it is because here in Houston every station is pretty much taken or what but the sound quality it worse than FM radio, not as quite like AM but extremely horrible in my opinion. My question is how can I get a better sound quality from the XM with the stock HU (bose, CD). I have researched the forum and I think these may be my solutions:

1) Replace the stock HU with a stock HU with a cassette.

2) use the PIE thing.... but my firmware version is 9.53 and I read a thread where it needs to be higher to work. so I don't think I want to go this route...

3) I saw this on the delphi website...

Does anyone have any other suggestions or recommends one of the options I have listed?

Thanks!

Ed

Have the same SkyFi as you.
I would not get the cassette player unless you don't mind a wire coming out of your HU.
As for the firmware issue, I believe it can be changed by a member at this board.
The Delphi wired modulator works better sins it will cut the signal to your radio when the Delphi is powered on. (I used it for 2 years in my G35 Coupe)
Fed-Ex is on it's way with my PIE adaptor right now, so I will now later if it was worth the 100$
Be warned that you need to remove the HU for the wired modulator.... and will set you back money to….
So maybe firmware upgrade and PIE box?

well the direct FM mod I linked the post to is only $25. Are you saying that is sounds better than the internal FM modulator? bit curious cause it still uses the FM freq. but I'm out of ideas here. Can't use PIE, don't have cassette.... sigh

Man, I just installed the PIE box, FORGET MODULATION!!!!!
I was unfortunate to have no direct adaptors in my G35 but man, this works great!
The Delpi 2 works beyond my dreams!
Check here with other members to upgrade your HU firmware and get the PIE box.
This is all I can recommend.
All other options are sadly a waist of money.
