Birthday HELP!! (Audio speaker question)

So i have a 2004 RX8 with the bose speaker set. Well the speakers have been kicking in and out recently, apparently its some chip on there that went bad and an electrician needs to put some chip in there or something idk. Anyways, its my birthday tomorrow and my brother gave me a $250 giftcard to best buy, is there anything that i can do with that to remedy the problem or just get new speakers? What all will i need? Ive also heard that because its a bose system, i cant put other speakers on there and if i do its useless because the "bose box" will make it sound the same. Honestly, i dont know much anything about car audio and i would greatly appreciate some help =)

I'm assuming all of your speakers were kicking in and out and the electrician diagnosed that it had a faulty chip(amplifier)?
Then the new speaker wont fix the problem.

Post some details of the problem...is it Front left? Front right?....?...

also, i didn't go to an electrician. I saw that a few other people on here were having the problem and that's what they did to fix the problem.

firebirddude, where are you...

Maybe mods should change the title of the thread and put it in the audio section?

there's some loose connection/cold solder in either the head unit or the bose amplifier
my closest bet would be on the head unit..
i will check the bose amplifier tomorrow if its possible to swap connectors....front to rear input(same with the speakers)

i doubt its the speaker...by cranking up the volume alone, you can tell a bad speaker...just imagine how much vibration it made...

haha Thanks for the kind words guys. In the future, you can PM me. It will send me an email and get my attention.

Sounds like the small door amps. There's a cheap fix for this linked in the FAQ thread. Top of the second post. Doubt Best Buy is going to do it for you though. Certainly not worth what they'd charge you if they decided to take it on.

And just to confirm, no, you cannot swap out the 9" Bose front door speakers for aftermarket and keep the rest of the Bose system.
