I remember seeing a few concept cars with Blue Leather which looked the same as the Red/Tan, but I'm not sure that any production cars with this color were ever made.

Anyone know?

 

No production cars. From the factory you can get leather in red, chaparral (aka brown for those of us who don't have it in our cars), or black.

Some folks were getting upholsters to switch the accent panels with other colors / materials, which is what you saw.

 

People have it done at custom interior shop & have the interior wrapped in almost any color you want!

 

is the red actually leather.. or vinyl.. like the ones in the new stang??

 

Mazda says that the seat side panel and other minor places are "leather look" vinyl. The other surfaces are actual leather.

 

From the factory--the inserts are real leather--the door panels and sidebolsters are another material. If you go aftermarket you can get the whole seat in leather.

 

I looked into getting my grey cloth changed to a blue, but the shop I took it to didn;t have a bright bule to match except with the Katzkin re-covers. That changed the black cloth to leather and the grey to a blue sude. The cost was about 1300. I didn't want leather so I'm looking elsewhere.

 

just wondering if anyone ever got blue two tone interior made from their rx-8 seats and what it looks like, or has anyone in NJ looked into prices???

 

Do a search on "Classic Soft Trim". There are some examples of other color combos; don't remember if I saw any blues... Their website has a list of available colors. Price for me was around $1200 (through dealer), I think someone got it for $1050 going direct.

 

I think Whealy or whealey did it himself a long time ago. I think he may have sold his car though, or he's not around anymore, or something.
