I just bought a 2004 GT. I pick it up tomorrow. My present car has a beautiful Alpine deck and Alpine XM tumer.

Will the RX-8 fit a standard radio like an Alpine? It has a 6-CD unit right now. Would this be a good move or should I sell my Alpie equipment on eBay and get an RX-8 head that is SAT ready and a Sirius tuner?

Advise please?

 

It is a major PITA and extreme modifications for the DIYer in this vehicle. Read some of the pertinent threads below for some more input on this vehicle.

 

Being a non-smoker, the XM Commander and PIE adaptor looks like a nice project. I like the way XM Commander fits in he ashtray.

I looked at the DIY for the Ipod install. How far out does the radio have to come in order to install the PIE adaptor?

I took the whole head unit out. It isn't hard just need to spend a little time with all the wiring harness clips. (can be a little bit of a pain).
