when fine tuning the rx8 today, i think i hear that the right side speaker is out of phase, but i cant confirm it, after doing some more searching on the forums, i found some contradicting info on whcih wires to tap coming out of the bose amp to use for a high level signal input

everyone is in agreemtn that left rear + is purple, and left rear - is pink

but, when it comes to the right rear + and -, there is opposite data posted

the black/.blue wire and the white./blue wire, whcih is negative? whcih is positive?

Left Hand Rear: +Violet, -Pink
Right Hand Rear: +White w/Blue stripe, -Black w/Blue stripe

What sort of problems would arise if one happens to hook up the speakers out of phase?

 

crappy sound since the two would cancel much of the sound out by pretty much working against each other.

 

out of phase can also make hum, and it will mess up your stereo imaging, your left speaker will sound very tinny, the right will sound very muddy.

but how the hell did it get that way ?

According to the wiring diagram, black is negative, white is positive.
This is true for the Bose- and non-Bose system as well.
