capacitor question??

Hey i have a 10inch kicker L5 with a 750 watt amp that powers it just fine, iv always had the problem with my interior lights flickering so i went out and bout a 1 fared capacitor from ultiamte electronics and had a buddy that used to work and the instal bay at curcite city so i know that its hooked up fine since there isnt much to it, but my problem is that my lights still flicker so what could be the problem? i also bought i new battery that is stronger, my lights also dim when i roll my windows down and up......

thanks

Sounds like you need a higher output Alternator. Your speaker is drawing too much power. The voltage draw is more than the alternator can compensate for.
If you turn the stereo off I assume everything works normally?

how old is your battery?
does your capacitor have a digital readout? I've got a 2 Farad on my 1200 watt Kicker amp powering dual JL 10w6's and mine seems to do the trick.

A bad ground could cause this as well as a bad battery

Indeed, and as cited in the 'grounding point' thread today for audio you really need to return to battery negative ground to be assured of both shielding RF transients and also reducing phantom draws on the system.

Capacitors are very good at doing what they're intended, storing and then rapidly releasing energy when needed, but they can't do it if there isn't proper energy to begin with.

It would appear even given the capacitor compensating to a degree for your audio that you have too much draw and therefore flickering headlights.

bad ground as in it's not grounded in a good spot.

What part of "battery negative ground" was confusing???

Assure your audio ground is a direct connection.

What does your ground wire ground to?
I found a few bolts in the trunk which are satisfactory grounds, but for the best ground, you need to go back to the battery.
