CarPC Question-
Hey i was wondering just why everyone was changing their output screens on there nav systems when they do a carpc install? I have factory nav. and i want to get the Avelectronics nav video switcher and install a carpc via that, to the stock nav screen. But i see alot of people here install different screens instead of using the stock one...is there something wrong with the stock? Is the resolution to low? Im just making sure that ill be able to do this no problem, thanks

Allow me to introduce you to www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/ . Great source for carpc.
If you can find a way to integrate the video signal from the stock nav dvd-rom into your pc, then I couldn't see why you can't use it. However, you might want to just consider all the other nav software available to run directly on your car pc.
The two most popular touchscreens are made by Lilliput and Xenarc. Check out mp3car for more info.

Good For?
Just installed a CarPC myself.
Anything a normal pc can do, they can do.
You could interface into your CAN and pull realtime car data while driving (I just bought the pieces for this today)
I have GPS (so does the stock nav but iGuidance > stock Nav)
I have my entire music selection at my fingertips.
I have video for entertainment when I am driving others around and do not want to talk to them (see reference exgirlfriend)
Bluetooth.
I have mobile broadband on the move through integrated bluetooth with my cell phone (I can also pull over and access hotspots with my wireless. Great for work)
I can push the list further but you get the point.
