Change black/red to black interior?

Hello all -

A local dealer has an '06 Galaxy Grey RX-8 with the black/red leather interior selling for a pretty good price.

I like everything about the car except the black/red interior - the red is too flashy for me.

Is it possible to change out only the red panels, steering wheel, and seat cover parts for black ones, or will I have to pay for a whole new interior?

My other option is to buy an '07 that is exactly how I want, but that's about $4000 more than this new '06 costs.

You should be able to find those parts, they all come off easy enough. The most expensive parts will be the seats unless you can find an upholsterer who is willing to fix the red panels.

I have an all black interior '06 Galaxy gray. I kind of wish it was black/grey instead of black/black though. Sorry, I don't want to trade.

I considered the possibility of going to black/grey for this car... I figured it'd look pretty sweet.

Dude, I live in Minneapolis and have a 04' Gray RX8 with Black Leather seats. I'd gladly swap my Black seats for your Red seats. Is the driver side seat electronically controlled and does it have seat heaters? If so they're a match.

Grey leather, nor most colored leathers, don't age well. Grey and other light colors wrinkle and crease really fast. Or that is, they show their wrinkles and creases faster than do black leather. Just get solid black, you cant go wrong. And it's helluva lot easier to clean than red leather.

Ooh, interesting! I'll have to seriously consider this.

Would you want to switch the side panels and possibly the steering wheel as well?

Yes, the driver's side is electronically controlled and has heated seats (it's a GT).

Depends on how difficult that would be.. and if they'd even fit.. not sure if there's any difference between the 04 and 06. I'd switch everything if you want.. or just seats.

Do you actually live in Mnpls or a suburb? I'm in Centerville which is about 7 miles north of White Bear Lake. I work in Arden Hills so we could always just meet somewhere. Popping the seats out should be pretty simple. I've removed the rear seats, those are ridiculously easy to remove.

I'll swap everything with you. I'll make a drive to MN and Ill even buy you lunch. Hows that?
Oh and I have an instruction manual on how to take off evrything, so no clip things get broken, especially for all the panels.

Wow, you must want them pretty bad. Hey, where can I get one of those manuals? Might be nice for modding later.
