Changing center display color

Changing center display color
Is there any way to change the color of the display on the center console? I have some ideas on an interior project, but I'm not sure if that can be done.

I have looked at the display, I don't think this will happen.
There are about twenty little red LED's soldered to the board that would need to be replaced w/color of your choice and a red plastic sheet behind glass that would need to be replaced w/color of your choice.
Let us know if this is ever accomplished.

I swapped out the LEDs (stock is red) in the door panels that shine down on the switches. Switches are still backlit in red, but the front light is now blue. I've got blue LEDs on order for the ignition switch and ashtray lights. I removed the red filters from those lights long ago and tried some blue gel, but it looks like ***.
swapping out the LEDs that backlight the stereo/center console controls looks like a LOT of trouble. IIRC, they're all surface mount.
If you swapped blue LEDs in for your overhead and map lights, then did the doors, ashtray, and ignition key light, you could at least replicate the look of the gauge pod over the entire car. red backlight, blue front light.

yes seriously get those pics (in the dark and in light) up...nice work David
as for the display...I say someone pick one up used from Mazmart...have access to a de-soldering heat gun and go to town...just try it can't hurt

i'll post pics after i get my blue LEDs for the ashtray and ignition. hopefully they'll be the right size. I kinda guessed based on measurements, not on "this is a replacement for lamp size X"
we'll see.
we'll see.

Don't use a heat gun on the led's, will burn them bad. Best option is a forked end soldering iron that matches the width of the led's. If you have that not very complicated at all. I work for Pioneer so know a bit about the subject
