Choosing the right Sirius unit

Hello Everyone.... I'm a new member from Canada. We just got satellite radio up here (about bloody time!). I'm looking to do a discrete install (i.e., in the ashtray) and want to make sure I get a model that fits. Can anyone who has done this type of install let me know what model they used and whether any special mounting was required? Thanks in advance for your posts. p.s. Pics would be great!

Call Tim at HzeMall Customs in Surrey, he will be the man for you to get this done properly. He will be able to get you either the good US based tuners or the watered down Canadian ones.

Here is my setup. The unit is called the starmate I believe or maybe the starbase. Anyway it was about $80 and the custom install was done by my car audio guy for about $50. I love it!!!!

P.S. Howard Rules!

Very cool! Can you flip it up, or does it stay down?

Question: Why the garage remote? Doesn't the homelink system work for you? It looks like you have the exact same remotes for your garage door I have, and the homelink handles it just fine??

Yes I can flip it up no problem at all. The remote is a different story. I have tried programming it 3 times to no avail. The only way to do it is to find the learning button on my actual garage opener but I haven't been able to find that. Programming it with the remote never works for me.

What kind of opener is it? My learn button is on the drive head, on the furthest side from the door, right near some adjustment pots. I'll bet you can find pdf documentation for it using Google.

I went with the Sportster R and installed it where the ashtray was.
