No Guarentees
Not 100% sure but if you look very close by the temperature on the lcd above the radio you'll notice there are all the displays for climate control there...ie fan spped from your settings to AUTO and so on...Check it out.

Yeah, but that could simply be because the same display is being used for all of the RX8s, so there is no reason to go to the expense of producing two different versions. There very well could be other pieces/parts required to make the autoclimate operative.

I was thinking that there was probably more to it... Anyone know for sure? Maybe this was an option somewhere else and it won't work here in the US even with the part...I'm lost

A few months back I looked into this. I asked Canzoomer to check out the electrical specs for the NA version, and he said several components are missing and it would be a serious PITA to upgrade the NA version to the Japanese.

The picture you are referring to with the buttons alongside the LCD aren't an '05 or for another market, they were shots taken of the pre-production sales portfolio (investment relations and PR) and have been circling around the net for quite a while.

so are u inplying that no climate control system exists now?
i was wondering why they included and AMB button... why give u the choice to turn AMB off or on if it has its own space in the display? id guess that spot on the display usually would show the ACC temp setting and swtiches to ambient temp when u hit the button.
also doesnt explain what the fan bars are for in the LCD (look at an angle, you can see them)

Alright....here's the deal.
The RX-8 has climate control in Japan.
Mazda North America Operations (MNAO) in their infinite wisdom, chose not to make this feature available in the US market. They also did this with headlight washers.
You see the bars in the LCD because, it is the same LCD that is installed in Japan. But, several comonents are missing internally that are needed to make climate control work.

also thank goodness we don't have those goofy looking headlight washers...finally something that is good about Aspec

Your not missing much with the auto climate control.
Its OK when its not sunny but that sunlight sensor makes it totaly random, but it is always changing round which vents etc it uses (sometimes sensible, sometimes not).
