Cockpit Night-Lites?

I saw these in the Mazda Accessory booklet and was wondering if anyone had them yet?

If so, what are your opinions?

Is it a waste of $$ ?

They sure look cool.....

I have and installed them myself. Your mileage will vary but I can live without them.

I have them and installed them myself didnt take long at all, they are pretty cool and add a nice touch to the car but not really needed, and you could probably make something similar a lot cheaper from parts at RadioShack,

Trussville has the kit for $78 + shipping

You could tap into the lines that see the door is open and they can be triggered by that, then get a simple timer and get the same functionality as the mazda kit + lot better light coverage. The mazda kit only includes 2 small bulbs with a reflector so it spreads the beam

Mikeb,

Is this the the Mazda kit? Or another after-market kit? If Mazda, WOW thats great that you can dim/turn on/off the lights. I thought they came on and stayed on when the driving lites were on.....

MikeB, I can't remember if you posted a review/how-to. Where did you tap in for power? Do you just get some cold-cathode tubes that run on 12V?

I really like them i have them installed on my 8. I ended up paying like 170 after install and had them installed b4 i took delivery of my 8. They really do add a nice touch at night, especially with the red and black interior.
