Get an AVIC, you'll be happy you did. If you can live with a slightly smaller screen, go with the D3. its cheaper and has way better ipod interface if you use an ipod.

Don't bother with the steering wheel controls from corksport. Get them on ebay for half the price.

The AVIC-D3 was on sale at Best Buy for $699 a week ago, and until the first week of June (IIRC), Pioneer is giving out a $200 rebate on them too. That puts their most popular nav unit at $500! I returned my AVH-49000 for it!

Anyway, is anyone actually keeping up with this and communicating with CorkSport? Or is this just oneof those things where they want to see the list full before they even start talking prices? I hate feeling like someone's got me by the *****.

Not so!
I got in touch with a company called Nexia.
They made up the bose adapter.

here it is for £20, around $40.

http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Car_Stereo_f...kits/mazda.htm

4th from the bottom, BOSE rx8 model.

Im waiting to get 10 people here, ive already spoke to them about it, I want numbers first and we can drive the hard bargain.
Keep them comming guys!!

you'll need a pac-swi control for the steering wheel controls, they're cheap on ebay and if you have a shop install most of the places carry them.

I would suggest getting the avic-d3x. The "x" includes ipod and bluetooth and you can find them online for 700 or less.

Sorry guys, I am off the list. This is just taking too long and the time isn't worth the 10-15% potential savings. I ordered my kit last week and it should be here Monday or Tuesday.

Goodluck with the group buy

That looks sweet, is that the Corksport kit in there and your steering controls work?

Evil... just... evil... LOL Looks good man. I can't wait!!!

FYI... Correction on the D3 rebate: you don't get the rebate if you get it at Best Buy or Circuit City. Here's the form: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/ephox/StaticFiles/PUSA/Files/$200%20AVIC-D3%20Rebate-Final.pdf

The fine print excludes those two stores, and a few more dealers we don't have here in AZ I don't think. Also, Amazon and eBay have Pioneer bluetooth and iPod adaptors dirt cheap too. My iPod adaptor was like $30 brand new.

Anyway, back on topic: Is there any chance of them talking prices with just the first 10 people? Or are we gonna have to wait this out forever?

Just thought I'd tell you guys FWIW, I saw someone talking about the bose adapter addon earlier. I got a kit not long ago and it had a bose adapter with it that I don't need. I've got it for sale in the for sale section at half the price of a new one with the instructions if anyone on the list is interested. Sorry to thread hijack, just thought it might get some momentum going for people that were on the fence due to addon cost.

Shall we organise a purchase date then chaps?
Im thinking the end of June. Say the 30 June 2008

How's that?
That gives people plenty of time to get money together and go ahead.
I will get in touch with Corksport and get this actioned IF this is what people want.

I am very interested. I decided to give them a call and ask the question of setting up a time to talk with the sales coordinator, and they have provided me with her information. I would advise that they are leery about group buys due to people not following through or miss communication. He had stated that due to the last group purchase they are leery about doing another one.

So please make sure that if you are interested we do something together and assure that everyone is in on it. We need to designate someone to coordinate with them that will also hold everyone to their agreement. Companies go out of their way to do group purchases so please let's not let them down nor the members due to some people making a wish list and not following through.

Very true. I saw this a lot when I was part of the 3G Eclipse community.

I'm all in, cash in hand (or rather on the credit card). I've been watching this link too: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-interior-audio-electronics-24/gauging-interest-dash-insert-aftermarket-radio-140973/ so if I get the Corksport and then the other one comes thru, I'll just sell the Corksport later on.

I don't know if its an option here because this is an international forum, but with my local Racing Team, whenever we do events or group buys, we have a community PayPal account where we all send money to "buy in". Only after you've paid does your name go on the list. We only have 100 or so local forum members though so it's a lot easier to avoid issues. With the size of this forum, I don't know if it's possible here, but its an idea.

I bought with the last group purchase. I wonder how many people actually followed through?
