Anyone try putting in a single DIN yet?

I want SQ, not video.

Will a generic Metra dash pocket kit work as an add-on to the Corksport kit?

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't. The kit itself doesn't come with anything to fill the excess space if you went with a 1-din unit in - like a blank panel, pocket, etc..

Nice! But that's custom work, not the Corksport kit.

I received my package from Corksport. Installed the new part for the heater and everything works great now.

Here's a picture of everything working.

Question

I've removed my stereo etc. in the past but how difficult is it to install this kit? Is this an easy DIY thing?

I'm pretty sure he did a radio relocation, not a replacement.

Any word on any other kits? I guess Kanatech has this deal locked, sure wish Metra or somebody would step up to the plate and give us something a bit more reasonable. 700 bucks is buttrape for an install kit, even if our cars are about as complicated as it gets for replacing the factory radio. (ugh)

well, as i have stated numerous other times, if we bug metra enough, they will make a kit. being a dealer for them, i talk to them on a regular basis, every time i call, i ask about the rx8. i know they have a complete dash sitting in one of their warehouses, but dont have the demand to justify making the kit

did you point them to this forum? I'd be willing to bet that there's at least enough people here to justify production, the only thing holding people back is that it cost a gahzillion dollars to just get the car ready for a deck, much less add one. hell I'd even make one if I had the time and resources but I don't. The guys who did my car are also dealers, maybe I need to annoy them on a whole new level so at least 2 shops will be asking for it.

hello all, I Just got my 8 last saturday and just ordered the pioneer avic-D3 for it. I plan on buying the corksport kit shortly. My newb questions are as follows:

1) Would I be able to use the stock bose speakers with the pioneer HU for now

2) Should I buy the steering wheel control from corksport or an aftermarket module

3) Will I need any other supplies to install the pioneer

Thanks.

1) yes, but you need a line out convertor,

2) no, do not get the corksport module, as it is just a PAC module but more expensive

3) wire connectors

Question: How wide is the opening on the corksport kit? have yall been able to drop your double din units in and have it fit perfectly or have you had to modify the kit?

What's a good example (brand/model) of a line out converter?

Thanks
