Which version do you have?

No! Did someone learn to read Japanese while I was gone? Why wouldn't have Corksport asked me which version I wanted or if I have the Bose system or not? (I do btw) And now that the stock reciever is back in place I've got no air at all now, just vents and no control over them. As well as no display and no sound period! I am seriously screwed! Mazda will have a field day charging me like a **** to fix this crap.

Sorry to hear about the whole problem. I googled the website and clicked translate next to it so I was able to make out some of the stuff. After I found out about the North American version and Bose fixer I figured it would fix most of the bugs. If everything works out for me, which I'm praying it does, maybe you can work something out with corksport to get your version swapped out with the NA one.

I purchased my 8 with the Bose system.
I don't use the bose radio because I have an aftermarket unit in the glove box.
I also replaced all the speakers.
The only reason the Bose HU is in place is because of the A/C Controls.

Question -
If I don't plan to use the bose headunit at all, and I'm only concerned with the Heater/AC controls, do I need to buy the Bose peice (TBX-X001)? What will that do for me?

If people are buying this system to replace the headunit, why do we need the Bose adapter?

cesar - The way the HVAC hooks up to the head unit may be different with Bose system equipped cars. Like you said, why would you need it if you're replacing it. That's the only logical explanation I can think of. The North American version supposedly works fine with our heat and ac.

That's a good point. I may look into it. There are several guys around here with 8's, maybe one of them will let me take a look at their stock unit, or there maybe a picture posted somewhere showing the connections of both.

Alternative

I finally gave up. Sounds like they're having a lot of trouble making it work with AC. Someone pointed me towards a dash replacement that doesn't mess with the existing radio. I haven't received mine yet, but it looks a good solution.

Dash Kit (eBay)

Progress?

Just a couple of phone calls and hearing about others having trouble. The North American version is still not shipping. They're still working out the bugs.

I Finally Did It

after i tried all the possible solutions (corksport etc.) with no acceptable result (ac dead or display dead or even fitment problems) i decided to do it my self as i did for other cars with the same problem in the past.
so i made a new facia plate with fiberglass (copying the oem but attaching a universal 1 din frame).and that was the easy part..........
The huge problem was the ac and the display so i made my own ac and display controller using an 68hc.... motorolla controller and a pic16f... and my own wiring inside the dash
So after 2 months of hard work , many tests and dissapointments here it is!!!!!
(i post 2 pics taken with my phone cam ,more pics showing all the steps i did are to come)

yes i did 4 already (here in ATHENS GREECE) for my customers and i am arranging appointments for a lot more installations.
At this time the modification can only be done here in my store because i need to make some cabling and connector modifications in side the dash to connect my controllers , i am working on that so as to find the oem connectors and make it possible for everyone to install it without any risk of destroying the controller due to wrong connection or short.I am also trying to copy protect my controller for obvious reasons.
i will post pictures soon (when i comlete all the above i will post the installation manual that will be included in the installation kit )
So unless you get your car here i cant do anything for now
i am working hard to finish it as soon as possible.
regards

I received an update from Corksport. They have finally finished the programming that will communicate with North American Cars. They are testing to make sure everything works with the display and see no reason why it shouldnt be ready next week. The install looks like a bitch if you're not a professional, and since I don't have much time to work on it, it's going to take me about a week to install it.

The other dash kit...

The Corksport looks cool, but in case you'd like to see a dash kit that replaces the top dash:
