Could not pair the key/remote combo w/ '04 8

I have tried everything I could do with the installation sheets to no avail.
Please help:

I purchased the key/remote combo about 1 month and a half ago. I got the FOB installation sheet shortly after purchasing the product. Follow all the instructions on the sheet to no avail.
Here are my questions:

1. In one of the instructions (please see on the KeyFOB): "Push driver-side door switch three times." Is that the lock switch? 'Cause there's no other door switch.

2. Is this really compatible w/ my '04 RX-8? mazdaparts says so.

Please any help would be appreciated.

No, it's the switch that the door pushes when closed. The one that's covered with a rubber cap in the door opening, on the car frame.

Yes. I also have a '04 and could program my switchblade key I got on eBay without any problem.

When you're sitting in the driver's seat, the button you need to push will be to your left and slightly behind you, on the door frame of the car.

You must have two original (non-valet) keys to do the programming yourself. If you don't have that, then you need to pay the dealer to program the new key and remote for you, unfortunately.

any two keys even valet will work. you just have to have 2 keys that are in the system.

The valet will work to program the key, but he won't be able to program the FOB part of the unit, which I'm assuming he wants to do. I'd advise getting another, third key. At least that way if you lose a key in the future you won't be in the same boat.

When I bought my used '04, I walked out of a dealer because they only had one key for the car, and wouldn't give me a free programming of a spare key. Nowadays not having two keys is a big deal.
