Cup holder pads?

My RX-8 came with these little 2-mm thick circular pads at the bottom of the cup holders. However, they occasionally stick to the bottom of cans (e.g. if they are wet), and now I have lost both.

Are these supposed to be there? Is that for heat isolation? How can I replace those? (Maybe the dealer would have them? But for how much?) Or should I cut some up myself from whatever material they are made of?

I searched but couldn't find anything.

I imagine they offer a bit of insulation as well as preventing rattling. Wouldn't hurt to ask the dealer. But if it's not available, you could either
A) score some during a "test drive" (just kidding)
B) cut your own from any suitable material. Cork sheet might work well. Or, many kinds of placemats or coaster materials that could be cut to fit. There's also a rubbery/grabby stuff they sell for lining drawers or the bottom of refrigerator vegetable drawers. You should be able to find something that suits your needs in the housewares section of a big supermarket or Target.

In the thermal heat recall they should have been replaced if they shrank in size. In your case you can argue that they just flat out dissippated. Good luck your mission.

Tell them they shrank so much they started getting stuck in the indentation in the bottom of coke cans

If the urethane pads came off then go to the dealer and have them stick on a couple new one's....

Check out the the thermal damage inspection recall letter, they even call for inspecting to make sure they are there and to replace if missing. (page 6 of 13)... :o

BrotherV, the dealer is only required to replace them if they are deformed by heat....not if they are missing. The owner may have tossed them out for all he knows..... :p

You can always fold up a napkin or paper towel and shove it in there.
